Special Session on Advanced Photonic and Wireless Technologies for Future Access Networks

  • Special Session on Advanced Photonic and Wireless Technologies for Future Access Networks will be held in conjunction with the 6th International Conference on Communications and Electronics (ICCE 2016).

    :: Scope
    In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the development of broadband access networks to facilitate the deployment of bandwidth-hungry services and future 5G mobile networks. Advanced wireline and wireless network solutions with ultra-high capacity, low transmission delay, high energy efficiency, and low cost need to be developed to support a wide range of applications and requirements in future networks. In addition, efficient convergence of wireline and wireless networks should be considered to simplify the network configuration, management, and to realize new features and functions. This special session will examine the technical challenges and discuss possible paths and enabling technologies for the next generation access networks. It aims to bring together researchers and scientists from the academia and industry working across a wide range of topics in broadband access networks to present and discuss their latest research results.
    :: Topics of Interest
    The special session will host both invited and contributed papers covering, but not limited to, the following topics:

    • Next-generation broadband optical/wireless access networks
    • Future mobile backhaul/fronthaul systems
    • Fiber-wireless network convergence
    • Radio over free space optic systems
    • Optical wireless communications – Indoor and outdoor
    • New radio access technologies for 5G mobile networks
    • Resilient wired and wireless access networks
    • Security aspects in optical communications networks
